Sometimes, we go through an experience that really puts us down and makes us feel bad about ourselves. However, there are many ways to jump right back up again and live life the way you want to. Here are some great ways on how to improve self worth:

Dress to Impress

When you’re feeling blue, don’t let your wardrobe reflect it too. Put on your best clothes, some fresh makeup, spray on some perfume, slip into your most amazing pair of shoes and walk out of your doorstep looking like a boss. Don’t forget to admire yourself on the mirror on your way out.

Power dressing is a great way on how to improve self worth. That’s because when you see yourself all polished up on the outside, you feel the sense of self confidence that it brings. You’ve got to admit that people tend to respect you more and treat you better when you’re well dressed; that’s just the way the world works. So don’t be afraid to look like a superstar and start feeling like one too. Just don’t get your head up on the clouds.

Recite a Mantra

Whenever you feel the jitters or you feel like you’re substandard, recite a mantra or a saying that will immediately perk you up. In the movie A Cinderella Story starring Hilary Duff, (spoiler alert for those who’ve never seen it) what got her to stand up against her stepmom was the saying, “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”

You can create your own mantra that will help you on how to improve self worth, especially when you’re about to face a challenge. Something simple like, “I am a strong and relaxed person” will really pull things up for you.

Polish your Talents

Everybody’s good at something, whether it’s playing tennis, cooking Italian food, or playing the ukulele. If you’re really talented at something, you can join a club and hone your skill to become an expert. This can win you a fan base and is definitely a key on how to improve self worth as well. Just make sure not to get too puffed up about it – having too much self confidence can be a total turn off.

Chill Out

When you’re feeling especially down in the dumps and think so lowly of yourself, just step back and retreat into a world of rest and relaxation. You don’t have too worry too much if you failed at something or if someone thought you weren’t attractive enough. Moping about it won’t change things for you.

Instead, why don’t you treat yourself to a foot massage or soak in the tub with some candlelight. Just shutting out the world and pampering your body will make things so much better and make you feel really good.

Get a Favorable Distraction

If you always think about yourself and your faults, you can never really get anywhere. Instead, channel your thoughts, feelings, time and effort on something more productive or at least time and mind consuming to keep you from wallowing in self pity. One way on how to improve your self worth is to clean your house, whip up a full course meal, or study a foreign language.
